Casey Blake went deep and had 4 RBI and Chad Billingsley racked up an
impressive total of 10 strikeouts as the Columbus Crowd defeated the Santa Fe
Trailer Bitches by the score of 12 to 3 at the ballpark.
Blake provided much of the offense. He smashed a two-run homer (his 10th of
the season) in the 1st inning and doubled bringing in two baserunners in the
6th inning. Columbus ended up with 14 hits for the game while Santa Fe had
11.
Billingsley(6-4) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Jesse
Litsch(3-3) ended up with the loss. He gave up 3 runs and 5 hits in 4 and
2/3 innings.
When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Billingsley offered, 'The
fan's really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout
totals up there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy this afternoon
- of course, it would be all for naught without the 'W'.'
